Perfection in Pencils

This post was inspired after watching Tom Ford’s A Single Man, set in 1962. In the film, George, an English professor at a small college—played by Colin Firth recieves a pencil sharpener from his student Kenny— played by Nicholas Hoult. George picks yellow, Kenny red, which George says represents rage and passion. Gotta love products from the 60’s, that’s perfection and passion for you.

Looking back at 2009, one of the most inspirational elements for us has been the New York architecture. We want to pay homage to nyc-architecture.com for their great historic photo archive. From the successful Mason Fisk Building to the photo above we recently captured for client Qjames Bespoke, we say thank you New York. Stay tuned for our new upcoming project, 174 Jackson Street with Meshberg Group. Photo by Christopher Cortez | Copyright © 2009 Cortez Groupe, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Holiday Window Vignettes

'09_Bergdorf_Goodman_Window_11Bergdorf Goodman always puts together very entertaining and dymanic holiday windows, this season their vignettes show traces of inspiration from M.C Escher and Lewis Carroll. The windows tell a rhythmic story, allowing you to take a look at each chapter from birdseye view. The details are incredible…

Maybach X LaChapelle_04

We wanted to give you a glimpse into the VIP after party…

About the project: With examples of David LaChapelle affinity for working with the automotive world seen just recently with his exhibition in Miami titled Cars and Money: New Works, the American photographer takes on a large scale project with Daimler. At the center of this collaborative art meets automotive venture is the brand new Maybach Zeppelin. To set things up, Daimler enlisted LaChapelle with both the contemporary Maybach Zeppelin as well as an original 1931 Maybach Zeppelin DS 8. Tom Dixon X Audi_01

The exhibition “The Art of Progress” in the Audi Pavilion highlights the values of the new Audi A8 artistically. To this end AUDI AG is collaborating with the top British designer Tom Dixon, who created the installation “Light Light” exclusively for the world premiere. It comprises 120 aluminum polyhedral lights suspended amongst a cluster of helium-filled balloons made of metalized foil. The installation is intended to make the qualities of the new A8 visible and tangible.

In addition to Tom Dixon’s design art, images and sculptures were showcased in the Audi Pavilion that are otherwise part of the “Beg Borrow and Steal” exhibition belonging to the Rubell Family Collection, one of the world’s best-known collections of contemporary art. Read more

Design Miami/ is the global forum that brings together the most influential dealers, collectors, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce. Inspired by the galvanizing effect of Art Basel Miami Beach, the founders of Design Miami/ set out to create a design fair unlike any other that came before. Miami: Primary Flight ‘09

I was invited by my good friends Victor Reyes and Dylan Maddux to watch the Primary Flight ‘09 Crew create the most insane public art installation in the Wynwood Art District.

This was the most inspirational experience of the entire Basel ‘09 trip. These folks are the “best of the best.” I had a chance to watch this process and couldn’t wait to share the colorful urban fabric which gave Miami a lot more shine.
