Tomorrow (06.14.10), our good friend and collaborator Benjamin Belsky is launching a pop-up shop for his new S/S10 handmade eyewear line Mayfourteenth, at 252 Fillmore and Haight Street in San Francisco, CA., and will stay open till (07.14.10). We worked together to print the bespoke wall for the shop (stay tuned for photos). Ben also collaborated with world renowned artist Peter Gronquist to adorn the shop with his incredible gilded weaponry. When sitting down with Mr. Belsky in NYC a couple of weeks ago, I was able to view the entire insane collection. When looking closely at the acetates from Italy, I realized they reminded me of the the stalagmites and stones that one would find in a cave. We then came to an agreement that Ben’s process is somewhat like a cave miner, digging for precious stones and brilliant gems. As a visual study, I pulled together some imagery for a side by side comparison, enjoy.
